Joining the 95th Rifles Living History
Society© will make you a vital part of the long-established
Napoleonic re-enactment regiment, 1st Battalion / 95th (Rifle)
Regiment of Foot.
Formed in 1800 as the “Experimental Corps of Riflemen” and created
the 95th (Rifle) Regiment of Foot in 1803, the 1st Battalion was in
the thick of the action from start to finish. The 1/95th defended
Sir Thomas Moore’s army in the infamous retreat to Corunna in 1809
and was then involved with distinction in the majority of the
engagements of the Peninsular War until Napoleon’s abdication in
1814. The Battalion finally fought at Quatre Bras and in the
“sandpit” opposite La Haie Sainte farm in the front-centre of the
Allied line during the Waterloo campaign of 1815. The Regiment was
taken out of the line to form the Rifle Brigade in 1816.
The 1/95th takes part regularly in displays, living history and
battle re-enactments throughout the UK and Europe.
We are a family orientated unit, with partners and children
welcomed, consisting of people from all walks of life; male and
female, young and old alike, coming together to share a passion for
recreating a part of our glorious, military heritage.
As part of the 1/95th you can expect the highest degree of enjoyment
and camaraderie. We take pride in “living the life” as authentically
as is possible; in our uniforms, equipment, drill, living history
encampments and in the way that we conduct ourselves when in front
of the General Public. Naturally, as a military, orientated unit,
the 1/95th is run on regimental lines prevalent during the
Napoleonic era but our attitude is firmly geared towards enjoying
ourselves and entertaining those that come to see us.
We have all necessary contacts to help you with acquiring your
uniform and equipment and you will find no lack of friendly advice
and help from your fellow Riflemen.
So, if you are interested in joining the 1st Battalion of the 95th"
just email or call and we'll take it from there.
