The First Regiment of Foot guards still
exists within the British Army under its present name of the
Grenadier Guards' - and remains the senior Guards Regiment of the
British Army. Even by the time of Waterloo, in June 1815, the
regiment could boast a long and glorious history. Indeed it was at
that great battle they earned the title of ‘Grenadier Guards’ in
honour of the major part they played in the repulse and final defeat
of Napoleon’s Imperial Guard
The Living History & Re-enactment Unit portrays the Grenadier
Company of the Guards as it appeared at Waterloo and features a
fully developed standing military encampment as an authentic
backdrop to the activities and displays of both soldiers and camp
followers alike
Care is taken to ensure that all aspects of the Unit’s
representation are as historically accurate as practicable and there
exists a ‘lend/lease’ equipment system allowing new members to get
started in the hobby at minimal cost - and existing members to
continually improve the quality of their individual representation
