We
are a group in our sixth year made up of friends with a mix
of old and new hands, full time and part time Buffs members
in UK, USA, France and Spain. At present we portray the
elite companies in the later stages of the Peninsula war/
American war, and in France the 7th company.
We are one of the oldest Regiments raised in 1572 by
Elizabeth I and the original Buff faced regiment wearing
coats of Buff since our beginning. We fought in many of the
major actions of the Peninsular (Douro, Talavera, La Albuera,
Vittoria and more,) and only just missed Waterloo, busy
fighting in the USA. Our colour’s device is the Tudor Dragon
the regiment’s ancient badge of honour.
We try to be re-enactors for all seasons offering
opportunities for the all weather soldier, lady, Sutler or
camp follower, ladies you are not expected to be camp
followers if you don’t carry a gun. Anyone can be anything;
you need only learn the role. Freedom to explore our hobby!
We pride ourselves on our living history we tailor our camp
to different events (at home, in the USA or Spain) allowing
variety in the roles we play.
In the UK we are primarily Light infantry and work as part
of The Light Company. Unusually we carry both Baker rifles
and the Brown Bess giving you the best of both worlds!! With
many events both in the UK and abroad there is plenty for
all whether living history, Film work or blowing up
fortresses!!
This year is the 200th Anniversary of Bussaco and Torres
Vedras in Portugal; The Buffs were there and we will be
there to commemorate them.
We are friends with a common interest in history, having fun
and getting it right with no politics. So if you fancy a
coat of red, a flintlock in your hand, stand with Latham and
defend the colours then,
