Major General - W. Ellis-Jones

h

The British forces within The Napoleonic Association are grouped together under the title "The King's Brigade" in honour of His Britannic Majesty King George the Third. The forces brigaded together are any of those that would come under the jurisdiction of either Horse Guards, The Board of Ordnance or the Admiralty during the period of the Napoleonic Wars and are brigaded in the following sub divisions;

The Guards Division (Heavy infantry led by Guard units, supported by Line and Light infantry)
The County Division (Redcoat Line infantry with Light infantry support)
The Reserves (Highland Regiments and other forces such as Marines, Foreign Service units etc).
The Cavalry (Regiments of Cavalry, both Heavy and Light )
The Artillery Battery (British and German Artillery, Artificers and Pensioners).

Each infantry sub division has a detachment of Rifles, either 60th, 95th or Kings German Legion and Artillery, either Horse or Foot.

The Kings Brigade is commanded by Brigadier General W. Ellis-Jones who has held his appointment since January 2002 and has honorary membership of many of the Regiments under his command. Each sub division has an appointed commander who reports to the Chief of Staff and the whole Brigade is managed by a comprehensive and experienced selection of Staff Officers.

Whilst the majority of Regiments in The Kings Brigade are based in the United Kingdom, there is a widespread international membership of the listed Regiments that covers both hemispheres and the Brigade itself has operated throughout Europe, The Mediterranean, South America, The United States of America and Australia.

There is a variety of different uniform and drill regulations employed within the Brigade which gives a complete portrayal of the period. Some units favour the Hundred Days and Waterloo as a time period to represent whilst others display soldiering during the Peninsular Campaign. Various Regiments depict garrison life throughout the fledgling British Empire and service in the Americas and India. The diversity of The King's Brigade offers a complete range of the military spectrum and enthusiasts are able to satisfy themselves with the wealth of research that has been undertaken and is available.

Regular parades and inspections maintain a high level of representation and performance and time is set aside to ensure that the Brigade drill is of a high standard. The King's Brigade is a flexible and adaptive body of soldiers that can operate as a whole or individually in it's sub divisions depending on what action needs to be taken.

The Brigade enjoys a high morale which is the result of team work by excellent Regiments, who are well led and who constantly achieve superb results.

God Save the King
