October 1813, two
Voltigeur companies of the 30eme de ligne were in a defensive
position at Stecknitz just south of Hamburg. Attacked by a brigade
of Hanoverians and elements of the Russo-German Legion, supported by
two batteries of artillery, they fought from earthworks.
Losing no more than 30 men, they threw this allied thrust back in
disarray and safeguarded this vital position. This is what the 30eme
is all about, a combination of discipline and the elan to hold out
no matter what the odds.
We are a small but enthusiastic unit, representing a voltigeur
company of this elite regiment We place great emphasis on accurate
drill and equipment, meeting up regularly throughout each winter for
training sessions in order to make the best possible impression at
every event we attend.
Great stress is placed on both safety and authenticity. With yellow
and green plume and epaulettes, we stand out on any Napoleonic
battlefield.
